During one of my vacations , me and my five cousins planned an expedition  to a dense forest which is near our farmhouse.

At first our parents were reluctant but later they agreed as we said we would return before nightfall. So we packed our backpacks and decided to start off early next morning. We filled our bags with snacks, water bottles, first aid box, magnifying  glasses, binoculars and few safety items like handmade spears, bamboo sticks and knives; in case ferocious wild animals come face to face with us.

Before I continue the story I would like to tell about my five cousins-

Adithya the introvert, always buried in his books.

Akshay is a naughty and smart boy just like Jerry from Tom and Jerry.

Akshith is a sporty boy. He always reminds me of Bruce Hyena, the best friend of Geronimo from the book series of Geronimo Stilton.

Amogh the nightingale is always humming on his tune.

Aryan our navigator is always precise in giving directions.

We have named our group of six as ‘DEXTEROUS SIX’.

So, we woke up early next morning and started our expedition to the dense forest. As it was still dark we lit our torches and walked in a lazy and sleepy mood. We then entered the forest with a high alert. We heard the noises of wild animals, the loud chirping of crickets and the sound of leaves which crackled under our feet. Akshith and I led our group of six. We had planned to have our breakfast near a waterfall. Aryan guided us giving directions towards the waterfall. Our instincts were telling us that something was going to happen. When we reached the beautiful waterfalls we had our breakfast and spent some time playing in the water. Later, we resumed our journey .We took many pictures of the forest and had our lunch .We plucked many edible wild fruits and flowers.

It was almost dusk now. So we decided to return. When we reached half way, we heard some people talking .We quickly hid behind a bush. Guess what?

They where poachers and they had hunted a deer! Naughty Akshay who loved animals was about to attack the poachers with his bamboo stick. Amogh and Aditya pulled him back into the bush. After we were confirmed that they were poachers and doing illegal activities in the forest, we sketched a plan to get them caught. Amogh and Adithya ran back home stealthily to call our parents and villagers for help. The rest of us kept watch on the activities of the poachers by hiding behind different bushes. After about fifteen minutes,       our parents and villagers reached the spot. We all attacked and hit the poachers with bamboo sticks, and stones. We captured them and handed them to the cops.

Just then, someone tapped  my shoulder. I looked behind to see who it was.

Oops..! I was on my bed!!!! My mother was beside me trying to wake me up to go to school! The expedition and encounter with poachers was just a dream!!! I was not in India but in UAE!! There was one more week for the vacations to start.

Now I know why I got this dream. The previous day, I had spoken to all these cousins of mine and had slept reading the book, Famous Five. This should have weaved my last night’s dream. What an adventurous dream I had!!! Waiting to narrate this to my friends in school and the  characters of my dream!!!

The Vikram lander had landed on the moon. Earth couldn’t communicate with it. But then came a rustling sound. Two aliens with big bold eyes jumped forward.

One was having a microscope with it. They were examining the lander. They found it amazing. The first alien said [in moonish language]” What in the seven planets is this!”. “Yeah Wagner[ the first alien’s name], even scrumboozers[ the most advanced aliens in the universe] didn’t have this”, said the second alien. “Hey Pivil[the second alien’s name],take that microscope and let’s examine it closely. “Hmmm, ISRO”, said Pivil examing this strange abbreviation.”ISRO might stand for `International Sight Rock Orbit’ maybe”, exclaimed Wagner. “Wait it’s also written India?”  Pivil. “What in the seven planets is that!” said Wagner.”I have an idea, let’s take it to the MRO[ Moonish research Organisation]”, said Pivil. The aliens took the lander to a large building that looked more like a ship. It had the word `MRO’ written in big, bold and shiny letters carved into it. There was an automatic door. It opened with a slight screech. The head scientist saw them. He was a shabby looking alien with a short beard along the edges of his face.

He was very curious to know why in the seven planets have Pivil and Wagner come to MRO. “We have something. Something for yooou!” both Wagner and Pivil chorused. “Ok what is that you have there?” asked the head scientist grabbing the lander and taking it to the lab. In the lab, the scientists were confused what the term `ISRO’ means. Then Pivil had an idea.”Let’s check which planet is trying to communicate with this thing by connecting it to the yectumtransalator[ a special device made by the scrumboozers]. All the aliens there agreed to him. They invited all the news channels and  media personell to attend this auspicious event. The most famous moonish news media `The Fillers’ were there too to capture this amazing moment. “Ok everyone, here we have a thing, now we’re going to find which planet it came from!” roared the head scientist. Pivil took a long rod to secure the lander. Wagner took a drill and opened the control hatch. The head scientist pulled two wires out of the yectumtransalator and pushed it into the opened hatch. There was a faint buzzing noise from the yectumtransalator. Soon the faint buzzing sound turned to loud screech. A few electric sparks shot out of the lander and the screen of the yectumtransalator got filled with numbers.” Yes, the yectumtransalator has found the planet, now it only needs to translate the binary code!” cried the head scientist. Then came the name written in bold letters – ……EARTH……

“Oh in the name of the seven planets, it’s our very own Earth which made this!” cried Wagner. “We’re going to explore more about this mission!” chorused all the scientist aliens. Now, you’re all thinking how in the name of the seven planets I know all about this. It is because I am also an alien of the moon.

I waited with bated breath, when the winner’s names were being announced on the stage at the Grand Finale of the music reality show ‘Suno1024 Junior Superstar’ held on 11th May 2018 in Dubai at GIIS Campus (Al Barsha). And then, my name was announced as the Runner up in the category of 6 to 10 years old kids!!! I ran to the stage with joy and excitement, to receive my trophy amidst the loud applause of the gathered audience.

Thousands of kids from all over UAE had auditioned for this prestigious competition held by the popular UAE Radio channel SUNO1024 FM.

There were multiple rounds of auditions, wherein initially my parents had to send an audio clip of my song to the organizers. In the next round of auditions which was held in the office of SUNO1024, 22 kids were shortlisted. For the semifinals, I had to go to Suno1024 studio, where a Hindi song of mine was recorded and was published on social media and on radio as well. Judges then shortlisted the top 10 finalists, including me for the finals. From then, I had a week’s time to practice for the Grand Finale. I am the only boy who made it to the finals!!

In the spectacular Grand finale, I performed in front of eminent judges like Bollywood singer Divya Kumar, UAE celebrity judges Mitun De Sarkar, Jogiraj Sikidar and Nishita Charles. There were 2 rounds of singing and I was very happy that my songs received rave reviews from all the judges. Even people in the audience came to me with appreciation and hugs too!!

“If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot, write a lot.” said Stephen King.

Books such as,  “Around the world in 80 days”,  “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” ” The BFG,” “Robinson Crusoe,”  “Harry Potter” and the numerous books  like these, are a part of my growing up. While reading these books, I would always feel that even I should write some books, for the young ones to enjoy reading.

The more I read, the more did my desire to become an author get stronger and just about 4 months ago, I got to know that there would be a summer story writing competition and the winner’s story would be published. This was a golden opportunity to achieve my dream. So, I wore my creative cap  and worked hard. With the blessings of my elders and my complete effort, I won the competition!

When the results were out and I was declared as winner, I jumped with exhilaration. It was a dream come true for me. Tears of joy welled in my eyes!

Now that the story would be published, I had to work on other things like illustrations, cover page, dedication page and preface. It was a wonderful experience. Drawing the cover page with two para gliders and the treasure box was the most exciting part.

Finally after a month long procedure my book was published and is now available on Amazon UK and Japan(Link to the book –

I want all my friends to buy my book and enjoy it. As the money one pays, goes to the underprivileged children and will aid their education.

I am excited to share that I was also invited by the team of 102 Pearl FM, to share my experience of becoming a published author from a storyteller.

Right now, I feel nothing but gratitude towards my parents, teachers, friends and well wishers. To all my dear friends who are reading this I would like to say – “Follow your dreams, believe in yourself and never give up.”

A Whole New Tomorrow…… Jaiwardhan Nawani

Today is good, but tomorrow needs to be better,

I wish, I hope that tomorrow shall be a better trend-setter.

I would like people to be kind to others and themselves,

I would like them to be kind to insects and animals.

I wish, I hope that there will be no more wars,

I wish, I hope that tomorrow shall be a world without walls.

I wish, I hope that people should feel the real happiness,

I wish, I hope that tomorrow is not just about I or me, it will be about all of us.

I wish, I hope that tomorrow will be no pollution,

I wish, I hope that we all take a green resolution.

I wish, I hope we will have our earth, plastic free,

I wish, I hope I see everywhere only green trees.

I wish, I hope that tomorrow shall have no poverty,

I wish, I hope that tomorrow shall be having everyone happy and free.

If we wish for a world that is emancipated and happy,

I am sure the wish will come true for thee!

Jaiwardhan  shared his inspiration and experience….

“It helped me to think about what kind of future I am looking forward to. It also made me realize how little effort we are putting to fix the existing problems. We all are aware of problems of pollution, increasing plastic, deforestation and so on but very few of us are actually working towards the change. I wish that we all work to make my vision come to reality and that is what I have tried to pen down.”

Tring, Tring, Tring…..

Let that phone ring

Such a distraction is that phone

Leave it home.

Oh, that computer is calling

But it won’t catch you falling,

Apps on these iPads

Won’t fill in for our fads,

Mia and me the fancy bun

Cannot replace time spent with my mum.

This technological race

Will definitely disturb our pace

Run Run Run

Life in front of the screen is no fun!
