The special month of Ramadan and EID… by Nakul SS, 5N

Eid or Ramadan are celebrated worldwide by Muslims. It’s considered as the holiest month of the year. It is a festival that depicts unity, compassion and a sense of oneness in all. Unity is the way to find the spirit of Ramadan or Eid.

The special month of Ramadan and EID…

  • Muslims fast during Ramadan.
  • Dubai set up iftar tents near mosques.
  • Everyone breaks their fast at a certain time of the day called Iftar
  • Eid ul Fitr is the day when the Muslims break their month long fasting, visit relatives and friends, enjoy feasts and wish each other Eid Mubarak.
  • The whole month of Ramadan is spent chanting God’s name, by reciting verses of Qur’an and completing their duties and responsibilities irrespective of the fasting for the whole day.

Eid is also known for one more aspect. It is Tawafeeq(ta-waa-fee-eq) means unity.

UAE Government and various NGO’s provide food and water packets to the needy (workers and labourers) who serve the country irrespective of summer or winter, day or night.

One more aspect of unity which I noticed here is that the other communities also respect and form a bonding by not drinking or eating any food in front of people who fast. Most of the restaurants are closed till iftar time as a mark of respect.

At my father’s office also most of the other community people  fast  too as a sign of respect.

In a recent video I watched that here in Dubai, the Gurudwara (house of God) during the iftar time arrange for our Muslim brothers to pray and prepare special meals for them.

I was amazed to see that video. Therefore, I love Ramadan and Eid in Dubai. The holy month teaches unity and hope.
